Major indexes have staged a turnaround recently as investors price in higher chance of a smaller interest-rate increase by the Fed in December

U.S. stocks wavered in light trading Wednesday as investors awaited the release of the Federal Reserve’s minutes from its latest meeting.

The S&P 500 inched up less than 0.1%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped less than 0.1%, or roughly 30 points. The Nasdaq Composite added 0.2%. The three indexes opened higher before paring gains later in the session.
